Dozens join in Polar Bear plunge at Rye park

Dozens of residents joined in a Polar Bear plunge Thursday at a Rye park.
The water was just 36 degrees at the Rye Town Beach park, but that didn?t stop people from jumping in. The money raised at the plunge is to help a resident?s sister with ALS or Lou Gehrig?s disease.
Many say they don?t mind freezing for a few moments to help a good cause. Others say they take the plunge every year as a New Year?s tradition.
