Stores offer deep discounts for post-holiday shoppers

Posted: Updated:

Shoppers were out in full force Friday in search of post-Christmas bargains, and retailers across Westchester and the Hudson Valley delivered, slashing prices in hopes of boosting sluggish sales.

Woodbury Common Premium Outlets opened at 7 a.m. to accomodate shoppers anxiously awaiting the post-holiday sales.

Edwin Little came from the Bronx to shop at the Burberry store, hoping to save big on his purchases.

"We were here the other day, but I felt there would be better bargains today. So, I'm here to take advantage of it," Little says.

Retailers hope the sales can try to salvage a sluggish holiday shopping season. A report released by SpendingPulse says early numbers suggest retail sales were down at least 5.5 percent from 2007.
