Posted: Updated:

A Long Island Wal-Mart worker was trampled to death by a raucous crowd of shoppers in Valley Stream Friday morning.

Dimytai Damour, a 34-year old from Queens, was trampled as he tried to open the store at 5 a.m. According to police, he fell to the floor and was stepped on by hundreds of people. Workers at the Wal-Mart tried to come to the man?s aid but were held back by the crowd rushing into the store, eager for the holiday sales that awaited them.

Damour was brought to the hospital and passed away at around 6 a.m.

Nassau County police are currently investigating the man?s death. Officials say that filing charges against the shoppers will be very difficult, if not impossible, to do. Police are looking into the possibility of holding Wal-Mart responsible for the man?s death Friday morning.
