Home-heating oil leaves many out in the cold
Big price declines in home heating oil have left those that secured their supply in the expensive summer months out in the cold.
Oil prices during the summer were well over $4 a gallon causing many consumers to lock in their price for the winter months in fear of an even greater rise.
Some were lucky enough to sign flexible contracts, while others are stuck with the higher prices.
?I know that if the prices go down, then we?ll get the lesser of the rate,? said Donna Vitale, of Warwick. ?If the prices go up, then we get the rate that we have now.?
Heating oil prices paid by consumers are determined by the cost of crude oil.
