Case of 'fragging' deaths of HV soldiers slow moving
The case against a National Guardsman accused of 'fragging'two Hudson Valley soldiers in Iraq is moving slowly through jury selection.
Staff Sgt. Alberto Martinez allegedly detonated explosives that killed Lt. Lou Allen, of Chester, and Capt. Phil Esposito, of Pearl River, nearly three-and-a-half years ago. Martinez could face the death penalty for his alleged role in the killings.
After the first week of jury selection, seven jurors have been chosen. Twelve are needed plus alternates.
The court says members from each family will be able to talk about their lost loved ones during the trial. The trial could be extended into December.
