An Orange County man accused of fatally stabbing a teenager pleaded not guilty at the Newburgh Courthouse Monday.
Andrew Lane was arraigned and is being held without bail for the murder of 16-year-old James Murchison. Lane is accused of stabbing James on South Street in Newburgh May 16, the same day James was released from prison for a robbery charge.
Authorities say there were many witnesses to the stabbing but they were reluctant to come forward with information. When tips did start to come to police, they say they led to Lane. Police have not yet elaborated on what tips or evidence they have against Lane.
Andrew Lane?s attorney contends that police have arrested the wrong man and is confident that evidence will show he was not involved.
