Web site wrongly announces local pol's run for gov
Hudson Valley Republican Assemblyman Tom Kirwan is trying to find out who started a Web site announcing his intention to run for governor of New York.
Kirwan says the only thing on his mind right now is to keep his Assembly seat in the 100th District in the upcoming November election.
He assures that the Web site, which proclaims "Kirwan for Governor. A real voice for real New Yorkers," was created without his knowledge or authorization.
?Believe me, I have no idea other than it has to be somebody with a great sense of humor,? Kirwan says.
The assemblyman from Newburgh says he does not know whether or not the site was created as a joke, but he says he is only interested in keeping his post in the state Assembly.
?When you run for these offices, it's like having a lease on an apartment,? he says. ?I don't own it the people do. They're the landlords, I'm the tenant. Hopefully I've been a good tenant so they'll give me the lease again.?
