Lightning strike leaves elderly siblings homelessPosted: Updated:
A lightning bolt is being blamed for a fire at a Chappaqua home Sunday, leaving an elderly brother and sister temporarily homeless.
The lightning bolt struck at around 5 a.m. The homeowners saw smoke and flames and heard a powerful clap of thunder. They managed to escape unharmed.
Chappaqua firefighters put out the blaze on the second floor. They say they're not surprised about the incident because the house is located on the highest point of town, making it prone to lightning strikes.Last week, lightning struck a Chestnut Ridge home, narrowly missing the homeowner. Lightning also struck a Hartsdale home last week.
