Police are investigating reports of an attempted rape that took place in Peekskill Monday morning.

Police say the assault took place on Beecher Lane and Route 6. According to police, a woman was walking to a bus stop when she was confronted by a man with knife. She was then forced into the woods where the man attempted to rape her.

Beecher Lane is the entrance to the Society Hill Housing Complex. Police say the road is heavily traveled and they are hoping someone can come forward with information.
