Pit bull scares off woman's attacker in Spring Valley
Police in Rockland County say a man?s attempt to rape a woman was thwarted by a tough victim and her pit bull.
Police say the incident occurred early Friday at 22 South Main St. in Spring Valley. According to investigators, the suspect crawled into the home through a window. The victim says she awoke to find the man on top of her, hitting her in the face and attempting to sexually assault her.
Authorities say the woman managed to fight off her attacker and open her bedroom door. That?s when the suspect saw the victim?s dog and took off.
The victim suffered minor facial injuries and was treated at the scene. Police say she didn?t know her attacker. Anyone with information is asked to call the Spring Valley Police Department at (845) 356-7400.
