Police say an off-duty Orange County Jail Corrections sergeant and Navy veteran died in an early morning car accident about a quarter mile west of exit 122 on Route 17 East.Mark Ward, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.Police say Ward?s 2007 Infinti G35 veered off Route 17 East in Goshen around 3:30 a.m., hitting a road sign and a tree before coming to a stop 300 yards away. The Goshen Fire Department extricated Ward from his car. He was not wearing a seatbelt.?We?re not taking it too well,? says Sgt. David Estrada. ?A lot of people are going to miss this man.?Officials say alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. Police are continuing an investigation.
