Police bust alleged phony gynecologist from Monsey
Police arrested a Monsey man Friday for allegedly posing as a doctor.
Zalman Silber, 36, allegedly performed gynecological exams on two women in his Park Avenue office. Silber is better known to the public as the founder of New York Skyride, a company that offers simulated chopper tours of New York at the Empire State Building.
Silber was released after posting $10,000 bail. His attorney issued a statement after the arrest, saying Silber "is a highly respected businessman in Rockland and deeply involved in philanthropic causes. We're hopeful he will be vindicated and found not guilty."
District Attorney Tom Zugibe is launching an investigation to see if Silber performed any fake exams in Rockland. Anyone claiming to have been victimized in the scheme is being urged to contact the district attorney's office.
Silber faces impersonation charges as well as two counts of sexual abuse.
