Horse tosses cop on graduation day

Posted: Updated:

A police officer suffered injuries after his horse threw him off the saddle at the officer?s graduation ceremony Friday.

Lt. Kevin Christopher landed on his shoulder and broke his collarbone after his horse suddenly tossed him back.

The animal apparently was startled and bolted as diplomas were being handed out at a graduation for newly trained mounted officers in Pomona. Christopher was taken to the hospital, treated and released. He is expected to miss time at work.
