Newburgh teen killed in stabbing laid to rest

Friends and family gathered in Newburgh Friday to mourn the death of 16-year-old James Murchinson.Murchinson was stabbed to death last Friday, the same day he was released from jail. The victim?s mother was on her way to pick him up when he was murdered.Friends and family of Murchinson say that he was a good kid who was mixed up with the wrong crowd. ?James was a very nice boy and we're gonna miss him,? says football coach Michael Burks.Murchinson?s death is the second violent killing in Newburgh in less than two weeks. Fifteen-year-old Jeffery Zachary was recently killed in a drive-by shooting.The deaths have prompted officials in Newburgh to look at a number of ways to curb teen violence, including implementing a teen curfew.
