Parents thankful for prayers after train hits son
The parents of a teen who was hit by a train issued a statement Tuesday thanking well-wishers, while another family prepared to bury a child.
Christopher Cipolli, 15, is recovering after being hit by an NJ Transit train Friday. His friend, 15-year-old Connor Corish, died. The boys were walking along train tracks.
The statement issued by Cipolli?s family read: "We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. Chris is receiving excellent care and his condition is slowly improving. We would also like to thank all of the emergency personnel who so expertly took care of him. Please keep praying."
More than 6,000 people visited a Facebook remembrance page for Corish. Both boys were well-known at Nanuet Senior High School, where Cipolli attends classes. Corish went to a Ramsey, N.J. school.
Nanuet Senior High School students wore black Monday to show respect for the boys.
"It's their only child they have and it's very sad," said Caesar Rosario, who works for Corish's father. "They're heartbroken."
Corish's funeral is Wednesday, May 14 at 10 a.m. at Nanuet's Church of St. Anthony.
