Police end manhunt for burglary spree suspect
Officers have ended the manhunt for a career criminal accused to have perpetrated a string of recent break-ins.
John Redner, 35, was arrested by police Friday night, but not before leading police on a foot chase through two municipalities. Redner was recognized on Commonwealth Avenue in Middletown before being caught in Walkill.
The manhunt was launched Friday after police say Redner led them on a high speed chase and crashed his vehicle. He then allegedly attempted to rob a Wawayanda home, but was thwarted when the homeowner walked in.
Police say Redner was carrying a switchblade knife on him at the time of the arrest.
The suspect is being held at the Orange County Jail. He is charged with resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon and one count of burglary. More burglary charges are expected.
