A Pomona teen accused of fending off his uncle with a machete was back home Monday from jail and defending his actions as a "mistake."

Nicholas Pacella first told a News 12 Hudson Valley crew that he couldn't speak about the incident, but later said the incident was a "misunderstanding" and that he accidentally cut his uncle Sunday in their home. On Monday, Pacella said his uncle was resting inside the same home.

He then took a picture of the news crew with his cell phone and said he would take it to the Haverstraw Police Department before speeding off in his car.According to Haverstraw police, Pacella's uncle pinned him against a wall Sunday over who would use the family computer. Pacella allegedly fended off his uncle with a machete, cutting the victim's abdomen and hand.

Police say Pacella called them, but later found himself arrested. Officers confiscated the weapon, a sword and knife from the home.

Pacella is due back in court this week to face assault and criminal possession of a weapon charges. Records show he has a previous arrest for weapons possession.
