A village of Florida man accused of a fatal drunken-driving crash was finally charged with second-degree manslaughter Friday, eight months after the accident.

Krystle Crescente was on her way home on Route 208 in Blooming Grove when investigators say Brian Powell was speeding from the opposite direction, crossed the double yellow line and hit Crescente?s vehicle head-on. Cresente?s 5-year-old daughter was in the backseat, but was unharmed.

Powell was charged with second-degree manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and drunken driving. Police say his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

Blooming Grove Police Detective Brett Weeden says they waited to charge 34-year-old Powell in order to present solid evidence, including accident reconstruction reports and blood alcohol level reports, that would secure the manslaughter charges.
