Teen's family says he's a victim of police brutalityPosted: Updated:
The parents of a teenager arrested by police Saturday claim their son is the victim of police brutality.
Raheem Jones, 19, was arrested for allegedly pulling a knife on a cop while carrying a large amount of drugs. Jones and two other suspects face numerous charges including assault, reckless endangerment and drug and weapons possession from the incident.
Police say they tried to pull over the three men, but the suspects fled. After a short chase, Jones allegedly pulled out the weapon. Police subdued the men and allegedly found 37 bags of crack on the teenager.
Jones' family says police bumped up his court hearing to prevent them from seeing him and the bruises on his face. The family vows Jones is innocent and maintains that he did not resist arrest.
They plan on scraping together the money for an attorney. The family say they will also reach out to Rev. Al Sharpton for help.
