New City man saves neighbor from burning home
A New City man is being called a hero after alerting his elderly neighbor about a fire raging through her home Thursday.
Coy Frisbee, 26, awoke to smoke and flames coming from his neighbor?s house on Collyer Avenue around 3 a.m. When Frisbee noticed flames coming from the back of his 75-year-old neighbor?s home, he called 911. He then started frantically banging on her door. The homeowner and her cat walked out of the home safely after police arrived. The resident says Frisbee?s constant banging on the door woke her up.
The roof collapsed on the home, which is now uninhabitable. The homeowner is staying with relatives. Fire officials are investigating the cause, but believe it is accidental.
