Local politicians throw weight behind Clinton, Obama

Posted: Updated:

Local politicians and Democratic Party leaders in Rockland County announced their support for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) Thursday. However, it?s not all about Clinton in the Hudson Valley.

With Super Tuesday less than a week away, Democrats in more than 20 states must now choose between a pair of presidential candidates ? Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

Many local Democrats are turning their attention toward the hometown candidate.

?There?s a great feeling of support for Sen. Hillary Clinton prior to primary Tuesday and she?s been such a great New York senator,? Democratic Party leader Harriett Cornnell says. ?She?s been so important to the county of Rockland.?

Meanwhile, members of Rockland for Obama are gearing up for the biggest day of the presidential primaries. Some Obama supporters say despite Clinton?s home state advantage, Sen. Obama?s message rings true in the Hudson Valley.
