Yonkers mayor takes oath of office for his second term

Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone took the oath of office for his second term Tuesday.
In his speech, Amicone said he wants to turn the promises of the past into concrete results for the city he grew up in. As the leader of a city with a troubled financial past, Amicone said he is as optimistic as ever that Yonkers is on the verge of greatness.
?We?re in a dilemma from which we cannot readily emerge unless we take some imaginative and dramatic steps,? Amicone said. ?[Take] actions not words.?
Amicone also challenged the Democratic majority on the City Council to work with him, specifically on the billion-dollar downtown revitalization plan.
Meanwhile, Council members John Murtagh and Patricia McDow began their second term Tuesday. The city?s newest councilmember Joan Gronowski was also sworn in.
