Walden man accused of abandoning his 2 dogs
An Orange County man is under arrest on charges he abandoned his two dogs after he moved out of his Walden home.
Michael Maziello is charged with two misdemeanors for failing to feed the dogs and abandonment. The dogs are now at the Humane Society of Walden. Barbara Williams, who has worked at the Humane Society for 10 years, says one of the dogs shows signs it was involved in dog fighting. Williams says a female pit bull?s teeth are missing and some are very short. ?A lot of times they'll do that. They'll file them down, so they can fight the dogs. I'm not saying they did this. But that is a sign of it,? Williams says.
Maziello is not charged with any dog fighting crimes. He says the whole thing is a misunderstanding. Maziello claims he told the shelter about the dogs and he was coming back to care for them.
However, a dog control officer says that is not the case. He says there was no food or water for the dogs. Police say the village of Walden will try to forfeit Maziello?s rights to the dogs and have them put up for adoption.
