Historic 'Special K' bust lands Rye Brook man in jail
A Rye Brook man has been arrested in what police say is the largest seizure of Ketamine in Westchester County history.
Police said they arrested 27-year-old Michael Avallone Thursday during a traffic stop. He had 65 vials of the prescription anesthetic Ketamine in his car, according to officials. Authorities said they later found 1,500 vials of the drug, worth $150,000, at Avallone's home along with steroids and three loaded guns.
Avallone?s arrest represents the culmination of a month-long investigation.
"He had a large customer base throughout Westchester County and the Bronx," said Police Chief Brian Austin. "That's why he had so much of it."
The hallucinogenic, called "Special K" on the street, is often added to alcohol, snorted or smoked when used recreationally.
Avallone, originally from the Bronx, moved to the village earlier this year. He is being held on $500,000 bail. Avallone faces charges in Harrison and Rye Brook.
