Forensic evidence heard in Warwick man's murder trial

Posted: Updated:

The murder trial of a Warwick man accused of stabbing his friend to death got underway Friday, with the murder weapon taking center stage.

Dwayne Brooks, 31, is facing murder and manslaughter charges in connection to the stabbing death of Michael Bristow. The two men, who had been friends, reportedly got into an argument in Brooks' apartment. Police found Bristow?s body on McEwan Street in Warwick on March 20.

The jury heard testimony from the investigators who collected evidence from the murder scene. Forensics experts also talked about evidence, including the kitchen knife Brooks allegedly drove so hard into Bristow's chest that the blade snapped from the handle.

Michael Bristow's mother says some of the details are excruciating to sit through, though she vows to be in court every day to see justice for her son.
