Police probe case of man driving with dead passenger
Investigators hope an autopsy will yield clues into the case of a man who allegedly drove around with a dead body in Highland Mills.
Woodbury police say they found the body of 29-year-old Robert Gale in the passenger seat of Steven Prunier's car Saturday. Police say they followed Prunier to his home after getting calls about him driving erratically.
Based on an initial investigation, police believe Gale had been dead for some time before his body was found. However, officials have not found any signs of trauma.
Prunier is in jail and faces charges of DWI and drug possession. While investigators say the men knew each other, they have not charged Prunier with Gale's death.
News 12 Hudson Valley has learned Prunier is not cooperating with police.
Residents expressed shock over the case. "You kinda don't expect it here," a concerned neighbor said. "It's so quiet and everything. It's strange."
