Hotel patrons get rude awakening after vandals hit
Police in Wallkill are searching for a group of vandals who damaged nearly two dozen cars parked at a pair of hotels.
According to police, guests at the Courtyard by Marriott and the adjacent Mircotel Inn and Suites woke up Tuesday to find their vehicles had smashed windows and slashed tires. Police say they received calls from 23 aggravated car owners. The damage has been estimated at more than $5,000.
Wallkill Police Deputy Chief John Quinn believes multiple vandals were involved. In a few instances, the suspects broke windows and stole items from inside the cars, said Quinn. There was no video surveillance in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wallkill Police Department at 845-692-6757.
