Jury selection starts in murder-for-hire case
Jury selection got underway Monday in Goshen for the man accused of killing a Middletown hair salon employee in a murder-for-hire plot.Prosecutors claim Patrick Bowie paid his friend Melvin Green, of the Bronx, $1,000 to kill 36-year-old Fermina Nunez. They say Bowie was Nunez's ex-boyfriend. Green allegedly burst into the hair salon last December and forced Nunez and customers to the floor before shooting the mother of four execution-style.
Jurors were asked whether they could be fair and impartial to Green. Jury selection continues Tuesday morning and proceedings may begin as soon as that afternoon.
Bowie is also charged with murder. There is no word on when he is expected to stand trial.
