Empire State Games come to close in WC

Westchester?s first time hosting the Empire State Games came to a close as Sunday marked the final day of competition.
Medals were on the line during the final games of this year?s event. Hudson Valley competed in all four of the gold medal basketball games. The region took silver in three of the matches, but the girls? open division team was able to defeat Adirondack 61-59 to take home the gold.
Silver was the color of the day for Hudson Valley teams. The region grabbed silver medals in girls? lacrosse, girls? scholastic soccer, men?s open soccer and men?s hockey.
On the grass, Hudson Valley?s field hockey squad shutout Western to win gold.
Hudson Valley finished second overall in medals. Next year?s games will be held in Binghamton.
