More information on alleged cop shooter revealed
Investigators released more information Thursday about the suspect accused of shooting a Middletown police officer.
Authorities said the suspect, 34-year-old Raymond Zayas, has a history of violence. At the time Zayas allegedly shot rookie Police Officer Christopher Dolan, police said he was on probation for a 2004 stabbing incident. Zayas? probation status prevents him from owning a firearm. He is now facing charges for attempted murder.
Zayas shot Dolan while the officer was responding to a domestic dispute at Zayas? residence, according to police.
Dolan is currently recovering at Horton Hospital. Middletown Police Chief Matthew Byrne said Dolan?s health is improving.
?I was up at the hospital this morning, talking to him again,? said Byrne. ?He looks better each day.?
