A toddler is recovering after taking a nasty 14-foot tumble out of a window in Orangeburg Tuesday.
Police say the 2-year-old girl climbed onto the windowsill of an apartment at the Blue Hill Commons Condominiums. The screen gave way and the child fell onto a large bush that broke her fall, according to authorities.
The toddler suffered bruises to her head. The child?s sister told News 12 Hudson Valley the girl is expected to recover.
Orangeburg police are investigating the incident, but say the girl climbed onto the windowsill while her aunt was talking on the phone. While no charges have been filed, police have turned the case over to Rockland County Child Protective Services.
Authorities say the window did not have guards, but they say the guards may not have been required when the complex was built.
