Wallkill Salvation Army robbedPosted: Updated:
An armed robber struck Middletown last weekend, targeting the Salvation Army.
Police say the robber entered the building Saturday night and tied up two employees. He ended up getting away with nearly $2,000 in cash.
Authorities say the robber was armed with a gun. They say he entered the Salvation Army and waited for closing time before he made his move. He then forced the two employees into the back room, tied them up, and stole cash from the night deposit bag.
The suspect drove off in one of the employee?s cars, which was later found at a bus terminal in Newburgh.
The employees, both female, were both able to cut themselves loose and call in the crime once the robber had left.
The suspect is being described as a black male, about 5?6? and 140 pounds with a moustache and short, curly hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt, and a black straw hat with red, yellow, and green stripes.
Police need the public?s help in bringing the robber to justice. They are asking anyone with any information about the crime to call them at 845-692-6757.
