Cops: Drug crazed man sets off police chase
A family in Newburgh had a frightening Fourth of July after police say a man high on drugs forced himself into a house and later led cops on a chase throughout the city.
According to police, 24-year-old Antoine Ford, of Newburgh, knocked on the door of the Rodriguez? s house and forced his way in. Once Ford was inside, he went upstairs and jumped in a bed, police say.
When police arrived, Ford allegedly took off in a car and led cops on a dangerous chase. Lt. Charles Broe says Ford was driving erratically over the Newburgh/Beacon Bridge and into Dutchess County. Broe says Ford refused to stop, even after police in East Fishkill punctured his tires with spike strips. Ford finally abandoned his vehicle and was arrested.
Ford is charged with several felonies and received 15 traffic tickets. Police say Ford admitted to being high on PCP.
