Two Orange County teens face rape charges
Two Orange County teens are accused of raping a 12-year-old girl following a Memorial Day weekend party.
According to police, the victim was visiting her half-sister who was throwing a party at a New Windsor apartment. Police say the suspects, 16-year-old Antoine Gaskins, of Newburgh, and 16-year-old Victor Quijada, of New Windsor, brought vodka to the party.
Gaskins and Quijada stuck around as the party was breaking up. That's when police say they forcibly raped the girl. The rape wasn't reported until the victim returned home to Virginia.
Police later traveled to Virginia to interview the victim. Investigators collected DNA evidence while a medical examination recorded injuries consistent with violent forcible sexual intercourse, police say.
Gaskins and Quijada are charged with forcible rape in the third degree.
