Truck plummets down embankment in Rockland
A truck traveling on Route 9W in Upper Grandview Tuesday plummeted down an embankment and landed on its roof, narrowly missing a house.
Orangetown police say the truck blew out a tire and hit a utility pole before plummeting down the cliff. Three people were in the truck, including a teenager who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Hazmat crews worked to clean up any possible fuel leakage.
Police say a truck carrying medical waste was traveling behind the other truck and got caught up in downed power lines following the accident. Orange and Rockland Utilities later arrived at the scene to free that truck.
