Task force nabs six in violent home invasions case
Investigators in the Newburgh area joined forces to nab a crew suspected of violent home invasions in Orange County.
According to police, the six men were involved in at least five home invasions in the past six months. Police say Ramberto Vega and Luis Muriel-Herrera, both from Puerto Rico, are the ringleaders. New Windsor Police Sgt. Stephen Sager says the men hooked up with a gang called the 5 Corner Villains.
Orange County District Attorney Frank Phillips praised the cooperation that took place among county agencies. Police from agencies across the region say the increased cooperation has also resulted in many arrests and gun seizures from other cases.
