Tip sparks new search in old murder mystery
Searchers combed farmland in Montgomery Thursday after a new tip directed them to the possible burial site of a murder victim.
Dominick Pendino went missing on March 3, 1999. Police say blood was found all over his Sterling Court driveway in Walkill. Larry Weygant and Greg Chrysler, both of Newburgh, were arrested months later and eventually convicted of Pendino?s murder, even though the body was never found.
Given the amount of blood at the crime scene, a forensic pathologist testified that Pendino must have died. Police have been searching for his remains ever since.
While backhoes and cadaver-sniffing dogs turned up nothing on the Montgomery farmland, police say they will continue to search for Pendino's body.
