Orange Co. plagued by persistent flooding problems

All the flood damage from the nor'easter is still posing serious problems for residents in Washingtonville and Goshen.
Many residents in Washingtonville are getting back on their feet since the river receded. However, one home on Patricia Lane was deemed unsafe by the village inspector. The inspector says the oil tank flipped due to the water. Consequently, when crews pumped out water, oil was also present. Some other homes on East Main Street are also unlivable due to extensive water damage.
Residents in Goshen are still fighting the swollen Wallkill River. Town Supervisor Doug Bloomfield has not lifted a state of emergency for the Celery Avenue area, which was hit the hardest. The Red Cross was on hand to help residents. Governor Eliot Spitzer has requested federal disaster money for towns like Goshen that have suffered from the nor?easter.
