Police arrested a man they say is responsible for a robbery spree in Wallkill and Middletown.

According to police, Rufus Gibbs, 46, displayed a gun and robbed the East and East Gas Station on East Main Street in Middletown last Friday. Police say less than 24 hours later Gibbs was caught on camera grabbing cash from the register at a Getty Station on Dolsen Avenue.

Police say the career criminal had a major drug addiction, which drove Gibbs to also rob the TD Banknorth on Route 211 in Wallkill Tuesday.

Detectives busted Gibbs on the streets of Newburgh Wednesday during an alleged crack cocaine deal. Police are investigating if Gibbs is responsible for any other robberies in the area.
