Posted: Updated:

Animal lovers flocked to Piermont Wednesday to catch a glimpse of a harbor seal visiting the area.

In January, a snowy owl was spotted, making Piermont its home for a few months. Then, in February, bird watchers were treated to the sight of another rare bird, the ivory gull.Harbor seals are occasionally spotted in the area. West Nyack resident Ellie McCabe saw the seal catch a fish for breakfast. ?They really have a nice area down here for people to come and observe these things. I feel like I'm going to the zoo," she said.

Wildlife lovers say they hope the seal stays for a while. In the meantime, they are enjoying the seal doing one of its favorite things: soaking up the sun.To view more on the visiting harbor seal, go to channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and click iO Extra.
