Herring guilty of murder in Spring Valley shootingPosted: Updated:
Carlos Herring was found guilty of second-degree murder Thursday evening in the Spring Valley nightclub shooting.
After two days of deliberations, jurors convicted Herring of killing 29-year-old Don Thompson outside Club Horizen in August 2006. Herring shot Thompson six times in the head, chest and shoulder, killing him almost instantly. Multiple eyewitnesses, as well as DNA and fingerprint experts, linked Herring to the crime.
Herring was also found guilty of two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and assault. The jury found him not guilty of second-degree menacing.
