Somers H.S. student faces heroin possession rap

A Somers High School student faces drug possession charges after authorities say she brought heroin to school.
State troopers arrested 16-year-old Michelle Spinney, of Shenorock, Tuesday after they received a call from educators. Troopers say they found two grams of heroin in Spinney's possession. "It was discovered through an anonymous tip that she was possessing heroin. The school searched her and they came up with the packet of heroin," said New York State Police Sgt. Joseph Lutz.
The Somers school superintendent says while she cannot comment on the case, the administration is taking appropriate disciplinary action. Spinney, who was released to her father's custody, is due back in court April 9.
Spinney's arrest comes days after another Somers High School student was arrested for possession of marijuana.
