Expectant Washingtonville parent watches flames rip through nursery
New Washingtonville homeowners who are expecting a child were devastated after a fire ripped through their planned nursery Wednesday.
The couple just moved to the home on Horton Avenue last Saturday. Kathleen Kilcoyne says she was having her cable installed by Time Warner when the fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. Fire departments from Washingtonville and Blooming Grove responded and extinguished the flames in less than 10 minutes. The homeowner thinks the cable installer is responsible for the fire.
Kilcoyne, who is due to deliver her baby in two weeks, says she can?t believe the nursery suffered the most damage. The Kilcoynes say they have insurance and hope to rebuild the nursery by the time the baby arrives. Fire investigators have yet to confirm if the cable installers caused the fire.
