March comes in like a lion, bringing arctic temps to Hudson ValleyPosted: Updated:
With the arctic temperatures and bone-chilling winds whipping around Hudson Valley Tuesday, spring seems like a far away dream.
Forecasters say the temperatures are only in the teens, however, with the wind chill, it feels like below zero. Residents took the advice to bundle up if they ventured outside. A doctor at Hudson Valley Hospital says with the deep freeze, frostbite can occur within 10 to 15 minutes. Forecasters say the winds should die down by the afternoon, but the chill will remain.
Due to ice buildup on the Hudson River, ferry service between Haverstraw and Ossining has once again been suspended. Metro-North officials say it will provide shuttle buses between Haverstraw and the Tarrytown Train Station until the ice melts and service can resume.
