Police bust suspected marijuana farm inside New City garage

Clarkstown police say they made a disturbing discovery during a drug bust in New City.

Police say they found a marijuana farm inside the garage of a home on West Clarkstown Road. Police say there were several plants situated next to heaters and hanging up to dry. However, the investigation didn't end there. Cops say they also found a loaded handgun that was reported stolen in Rockland, cocaine, hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia. In addition, police say they found abused 21 dogs living in the home. According to police, one dog was dead and kept in a plastic bag.

Shamar Simmons, 34, was arrested and is facing numerous felony drug charges. Animal cruelty charges are pending.
