A Walden woman is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from customers who shopped at a 1-800-Mattress store in Wallkill.
Investigators say Kelli Jean Davenport used information from customers? credit cards route numbers on checks to make payments online. Police say four people from Sullivan County claim thousands of dollars worth of purchases were showing up on their accounts. According to police, the common denominator was the purchases the four victims made at the Wallkill 1-800-Mattress store a couple weeks before their identities were stolen.
Police discovered Davenport's husband was the manager at the store. They say he was responsible for the store?s banking and gave his wife deposits. Investigators believe she then used the information to make purchases online. The husband claims he had no idea what his wife was doing. 1-800-Mattress had no comment on the case.
