New Rochelle college student shot outside off-campus housing
Police say a New Rochelle college student was shot in the early morning Sunday, but escaped with minor injuries.According to police, Iona College student Jamal Thomas was involved in an altercation with an unknown assailant in the lobby of his off-campus housing. The argument spilled outside 44 Franklin Avenue, in New Rochelle. Police say the suspect fired at least three shots, one of which struck Thomas.Thomas escaped in a car and drove himself to Sound Shore Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Investigators are warning the public that the suspect is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous. The Yonkers Police Department is urging anyone with information to contact them at 914-654-2300.
