Boil water advisory in effect after West Nyack water main break
Residents in West Nyack and Central Nyack are being told to boil their water before using it. A water main break Monday night in West Nyack knocked out water service to a shopping strip on Route 59 and nearby homes. Thousands of people had either no water or low pressure. Workers replace the main and water was restored Tuesday afternoon. However, customers who were without water are advised to boil their water for two minutes before drinking or using it to make sure there are no bacterial problems. The Nyack Water Department says it may be close to a week until things are completely back to normal.
