Teen suspects out of gas in Newburgh, New Windsor vandalism spree

Posted: Updated:

Police are holding four teens in connection to a costly vandalism spree in Newburgh and New Windsor that left car owners picking up the pieces Sunday.

Newburgh officials say a man called police after seeing the suspects shoot out his windows from a moving car around 2 a.m. The call led to the arrest of Daniel Alvarado, James Gida, Travis Ingram and William Gannon, all 17. Police say they found baseball bats, paintball guns and a BB gun in their vehicle. After Newburgh authorities charged the teens, they turned them over to officials in New Windsor, where they are suspected of 30 acts of vandalism. Officials say about 100 cars were vandalized over the weekend in both towns.

Police say the teens caused up to $40,000 worth of damage in Newburgh. The suspects are also being investigated in a rash of vandalism incidents that started around Christmas. Authorities say they expect to make another arrest and file more charges.
