Blaze claims lives of five beloved pets in Town of Florida
Smoke and flames ripped through a home in the Town of Florida Friday, killing the owner?s beloved pets. After running errands, Gerry Turner returned to find her Scanlon Avenue home in flames. Before firefighters responded, Turner ran into the house to save her 10-year-old dog and four cats. Unfortunately, all five of the animals died. Firefighters from Warwick, Florida and Goshen were able to extinguish the blaze in about two hours. Officials say an electrical problem in an old lamp may have started the fire. One firefighter was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital for severe smoke inhalation.
